Origin
Rest is the sofa series by the Norwegian designers Anderssen & Voll that Muuto describes as "a sofa designed from the inside out with a deep comfort, complemented by simple, friendly lines." The designers say the Rest Sofa was one of the first furniture pieces in the Muuto collection, made to capture the rounded friendliness that was very specific to the brand in its early years.
Design Language
Muuto presents Rest as a modern, embracing interpretation of a classic shape that adds a welcoming, soft look to a space through warm materials. For the designers the series is best characterised by a textile cover loosely fitted to a generous, comfortable volume, and by a wooden base they think of as very Scandinavian. They call it a switch in their approach, from a precise, defined silhouette to the relationship between the body of the sofa and its jacket.
