起源
Anderssen & Voll为Muuto设计的Outline系列源自最初的Outline沙发。Muuto与这两位设计师的故事探讨了什么定义了一个设计家族，并给出了答案：它是“各部分的总和”，各成员在同一空间中搭配时能够相互提升。Espen Voll将这样的设计家族比作人类家庭：“我们发现，设计家族在很多方面都与人类家庭十分相似，它们会随着时间不断演变”。
设计语言
Anderssen将这个系列概括为：外观干净优雅，结合深坐感与柔软的坐垫。新成员将这一语言延伸至其他品类：单人椅、紧凑的Studio系列、转角沙发、懒人凳和日间床。
