Collection Story

Origin

In Situ is the grand modular sofa Muuto made with Anderssen & Voll. Muuto's story "Grand Modularity" says it was designed from the idea of a grand, modular sofa that can be tailored to the user's space and taste while its modular elements stay hidden. The name refers to site-specific sculptures made in the place where they are shown.

Design Language

The designers sketched a profile that runs along the seat and back to hide the visual elements of modularity, and used a steel bar to unify the modules. They describe the sofa as combining the grandeur of traditional Italian sofas with the refined simplicity of Scandinavian design. It can scale from a 2-seater to "a super big sofa landscape".
