Collection Story
Origin
Audo says a field trip to traditional Japanese Washi papermakers inspired Norm Architects to create the Hashira Collection. The studio's own project page presents it as a modern, Nordic take on the Japanese rice paper lantern.
Design Language
Audo calls the collection a fusion of East and West and of tradition and modernity, built from cylindrical forms. Its pendant keeps a column-like shape and is wrapped in translucent fabric through which an internal graphic structure shows.
Key Pieces
The official collection page lists table lamps, a linear pendant, wall, ceiling and pendant lamps in several sizes, and a floor lamp; Audo's text also mentions a portable lamp.
