Collection Story
Origin
The Drop is Arne Jacobsen's chair of 1958. Fritz Hansen says it was originally created for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen and relaunched in 2014, and that it draws inspiration from the feeling of an embrace while leaving freedom of movement. The page adds that it is said to be Jacobsen's favourite among his chairs; Wikipedia's Swan article counts it among his furniture that did not get into mass production.
Design Language
Under the heading "Delicate drops" the series page shows the chair in updated colours with matching powder-coated bases, chosen to sit beside Fritz Hansen's stacking chairs series, whose colours were curated with Carla Sozzani.
