Collection Story
Origin
The Chisel Collection is a family of wooden seating and tables that Andreas Bergsaker designed for HAY. HAY's 2026 news item says it began with a single moulded plywood lounge chair and grew into a full family of a dining chair, a stool, two bar stools and tables in ten sizes across four typologies. Rolf Hay saw the potential for a full collection from the very first sample review.
Design Language
HAY says the collection is named after the traditional carpentry tool and that angled, bevelled legs run through every piece, giving a consistent silhouette across the types. The seating comes in oak, walnut and lacquered beech with a wide range of upholstery for seat and backrest, and the tables in clear lacquered or black lacquered oak. Every piece is crafted in solid wood, plywood and MDF.
