Collection Story
The family
Carlotta is a family of outdoor furniture by Afra & Tobia Scarpa. Cassina's product sheets for the armchair and for the coffee tables are both titled "200 Carlotta" and sit under Cassina Outdoor. Cassina's Outdoor Collection 2026 page presents a new version of the armchair, paired with the eponymous side table, with a structure in natural or lacquered iroko wood, and says the Carlotta low table family expands with a new solid iroko structure and a glazed porcelain stoneware top.
Archive and joinery
A Cassina journal item dated 27 May 2022, on the Cassina Outdoor pop-up store at La Rinascente Duomo in Milan, describes the Carlotta armchair as an iconic piece designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa in 1967, shown with the matching coffee table. It says the armchair was retrieved from Cassina's historical archives and presented that year in a new version for outdoor use.
On the product sheets, the inner corners of the structure carry semi-circular cutouts, and the sheet for the tables says the system of joints and finger joints was used by Tobia Scarpa for both the low tables and the armchair of the collection. The armchair page names the matching coffee table as the piece that completes the design for outdoor spaces of spontaneous, informal conviviality.
