Collection Story

Origin

Pierre Guariche developed Breda as a coordinated seating family. Official current pages link a settee, an upholstered-arm chair, a narrower 600 mm model and a footstool under the Breda name, all credited to Guariche. The product texts emphasise a fine supporting structure, clear upholstered volumes, technical comfort.

Shared structural logic

The seating models use mechanically welded steel and plywood panels for their seat and back framework. Elastic webbing provides suspension, while high-resilience Bultex polyurethane foams of several densities and firmness ratings build the seat and back comfort. Quilted polyester faces the upholstered structure. The footstool has a distinct plywood-panel body with polyether foam, preserving the family materials without importing a backrest construction that the product does not have. For the backless element, webbing remains beneath a cushion built from two Bultex firmness ratings.

Metal base and tailoring

The metal base has two treatments: a reflective chromed surface or black epoxy with a satin appearance. Tailoring uses a five-millimetre baguette seam at the relevant side and arm edges. Professional cover removal is permitted. Edition identification combines Guariche's side vignette with the manufacturer's label beneath the seating surface.

Upholstery programme

Breda is offered across fabric, hide, effect-thread textile, chenille, velvet, wool and microfibre categories. These covering choices sit over a stable construction system rather than changing the documented support and foam specification. The current official catalogue retains the family and states that the relevant seating category is made in France.

Programme structure

The shared system changes by format without treating every component as universal. Upholstered arms add plywood and polyether foam to the wider chair and settee, while the footstool uses a dedicated plywood body. Each member keeps its own published envelope, seat count and mass. None of the official files saved in the collection manual assigns Breda an exact design, introduction or launch year.
