Collection Story

Origin

Børge Mogensen created the Asserbo Series in 1961 for his private holiday home. The first edition was made in pine. Carl Hansen & Søn's present reissue changes the timber to solid FSC™-certified eucalyptus with a dark-oil treatment.

Design language

Mogensen looked to Shaker furniture when shaping the chair and bench. Rounded wooden members and visible brushed-brass screws give the group a restrained constructional character, while the manufacturer describes the family in terms of utility, craft and visual clarity.

Key pieces

The family can form a dining arrangement or be used as separate pieces. It comprises a table and seating, with the bench available in fixed-back and wall-supported arrangements. A removable textile seat pad can be added to the bench.
