Origin
Hee Welling's studio describes the stool of the About A Chair series as a PP plastic shell with a low back, mounted on a base of veneer legs or a steel sled. According to the studio, the shell is offered in different colours or fully upholstered, in fabric or leather. On HAY's page the About A Stool family has five entries: AAS 32, AAS 33, AAS 38, AAS 39 and an AAS seat pad.
Design Language
HAY's product pages say that the designs share one versatile profile. The seat is post-consumer recycled plastic in a wide palette of contemporary colours, with multiple front upholstery options, and the simple yet strong visual presence of the series is said to make the stools suitable as bar stools in corporate, public and private contexts.
