Collection Story
Origin
Hee Welling's studio describes About A Lounge as a series of lounge chairs and sofas, made by HAY. The shells are moulded PUR foam, the bases come in wood, veneer or aluminium, and the shell is delivered fully upholstered in fabric or leather. HAY's list for the series names AAL 81, 82, 83 and 87, each with a Soft version, then AAL 91, 92, 93 and 03, the AAL Sofa and an AAL Cushion.

Design Language
On HAY's product pages the chairs have a sculpted shell designed for comfort and visual lightness, and the pages describe AAL 82 as the low-backed chair and AAL 92 as the high-backed one. A wide choice of upholstery is said to suit a broad range of public and private contexts. The AAL Sofa page adds that the sofa shares the minimalistic principles and versatility of the rest of the series.
