Brand Story
Heritage
ZEITRAUM was founded in 1990 in Wolfratshausen, in the Bavarian Alpine upland south of Munich, and calls itself the first German furniture manufacturer to focus on the combination of ecology and design. It draws on the regional woodworking tradition of southern Germany and the Alpine region.
Philosophy
Sustainability is a fundamental corporate philosophy, not a trend. ZEITRAUM uses solid hardwoods from renewable sources, avoids chemical wood treatment and finishes open-pored surfaces with organic hardwax oil. Following Buckminster Fuller's maxim “Never construct something that cannot be repaired”, it builds furniture as future heirlooms under the motto “Identify the essential”.

Iconic Works
Working with international designers, ZEITRAUM produces a pure, unostentatious collection. Long-standing partner Formstelle designed the MORPH chair family, TURNTABLE and TWIST tables and the KUYU, ZENSO and ONDE ranges.

Today
The collection spans chairs, tables, beds, storage, upholstery, occasional furniture and lamps, with contract references such as the Maximilianeum in Munich, Genesis House in New York and the Munch Museum in Oslo, plus bespoke solutions and a Quick Ship programme.
