品牌历史
Thonet（唯心特）的历史始于家具工匠兼细木工Michael Thonet（迈克尔·唯心特）。他于1819年在莱茵河畔的博帕德（Boppard）开设了第一家作坊。在奥地利国务大臣梅特涅亲王的鼓励下，他迁居维也纳，参与了列支敦士登宫的室内装潢工作，并于1849年在维也纳创办公司，1853年更名为Gebrüder Thonet（唯心特兄弟公司）。从1850年起，为维也纳的达乌姆咖啡馆配备的4号椅让公司在全维也纳声名远扬；1859年推出的14号椅（如今的214）则使公司迈向国际。这款维也纳咖啡馆椅采用弯曲的实木山毛榉，使近乎工业化的生产成为可能。

设计理念
Thonet将其理念概括为理性构造与卓越的材料效率：模块化部件通过分工生产，平板运输，每立方米可装运36把椅子。其家具设计为可传承数代，并且可在Frankenberg进行维修。公司表示，其弯木与钢管家具原作始终是活态的收藏，而非博物馆陈列品。

Thonet GmbH总部位于德国Frankenberg（Eder），自1889年起该工厂便在此生产家具，Thonet博物馆于1989年开放。公司仍是一家家族企业，部分股权由唯心特家族第五和第六代成员持有，另一部分由Benner家族办公室持有。近期合作的设计师包括Stefan Diez、Norman Foster、深泽直人、Piero Lissoni和Sebastian Herkner。214获得了2021年德国可持续设计奖（German Sustainability Award Design 2021）与2024年德国生态设计奖（German Ecodesign Award 2024）。
