브랜드 스토리
창립 배경
프레데리시아는 1911년 덴마크의 도시 프레데리시아에서 Fredericia Stolefabrik(프레데리시아 의자 공장)이라는 이름으로 설립되었으며, 전통 양식의 고품질 가구로 빠르게 명성을 얻었습니다. 1955년 기업가 Andreas Graversen은 회사를 새로운 방향으로 이끌었습니다. 회사의 고품질 가구 전통에 모더니즘의 이상을 결합했으며, 프레데리시아의 초대 하우스 디자이너 Børge Mogensen과 긴밀하게 협업했습니다.
철학
프레데리시아는 스스로를 덴마크 모던 디자인의 공동 창시자라고 표현하며, 투명성, 진정성 있는 소재, 인간에 대한 공감을 실천하고 있습니다. 1955년부터 1995년까지 CEO를 지낸 Graversen은 이 접근 방식을 "명료함, 좋은 소재, 인간에 대한 공감, 그리고 무엇보다도 디자인과 사업 모두에서의 강인함"을 추구하는 것이라고 요약했습니다. 이 회사는 가족 경영 기업이며 B Corp 인증을 받았고, 진정성 있고 목적이 분명한 디자인을 오래 사용할 수 있도록 정교하게 만드는 것을 목표로 한다고 밝히고 있습니다.

대표 작품
Mogensen의 직관적인 소재 감각과 비례 감각은 컬렉터와 미술관에서 여전히 높이 평가받는 작품들을 낳았으며, 그중에는 Spanish Chair(1958)와 J39 체어가 있습니다. 이후 이 협업의 범위는 Nanna Ditzel과 Hans J. Wegner로 넓어졌고, 나중에는 Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, Jasper Morrison, Maria Bruun, Keiji Takeuchi, Cecilie Manz에게까지 확장되었습니다. 2020년 프레데리시아는 Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik를 인수하여 클래식 소파 라인업을 아카이브에 더했습니다.

프레데리시아는 여전히 Graversen 가문이 소유하고 있으며, 선별된 디자인의 현지 생산을 프레데리시아와 스벤드보르 두 곳에서 유지하고 있습니다. 코펜하겐, 런던, 오슬로에 플래그십 쇼룸을 운영하고 있으며, 도쿄와 스톡홀름에도 쇼룸이 있습니다.
