DCW éditions is a Paris-based publisher of lighting objects. Its catalogue is anchored by the Lampe Gras, the articulated lamp designed by the engineer Bernard-Albin Gras in 1921 and adopted by Le Corbusier: DCW acquired exclusive rights to the Gras range and has re-edited it since 2008, after decades in which the lamp had left production.

Philosophy

DCW sums up its approach in three words: well conceived, well designed, well made. It wants to make objects that last — everyday companions that are used without thought but noticed for their precision. Function is the starting point ("design is a function of function"); every mechanism, joint and detail is questioned and refined, and material, weight, assembly and finish are treated as essential rather than accessory. DCW calls its designers authors: inventors, architects, sculptors, designers, artists and tinkerers — free, sometimes unclassifiable personalities, but always sincere.

Today

DCW éditions works alongside MODELEC, a French maker of high-end switches since 1976 with which it has shared its heritage since 2019, and its own lighting label 10 HEURES 10, designed through the eyes of Fabrice Berrux. The three meet at Le bar électrique, the shared showroom at 71 rue de la Fontaine au Roi, Paris 11e. DCW sells through retailers worldwide and its own online store, and offers bespoke and made-to-order programmes.
