Brand Story
Heritage
Bocci was founded in 2005 in Vancouver, Canada, under the creative directorship of Omer Arbel in partnership with entrepreneur Randy Bishop. Its first lamp, the 14, was made in a modified barn in rural British Columbia, and it remains the brand's most iconic piece.
Philosophy
Bocci describes itself as a multidisciplinary design studio, research lab and factory rooted in Omer Arbel's design philosophy. It explores experimental production methods that let materials behave according to their inherent properties, revealing unexpected qualities in glass, metal, concrete, fire and electricity. Under the idea of constrained chance, unforeseen outcomes are treated as a collaborator. Projects are numbered in the order they were conceived, forming a chronological record of Arbel's ideas.

Iconic Works
- 14 Series: two cast-glass hemispheres joined at a textured equator, Bocci's first piece (2005)
- 28 Series, 38 Series, 57 Series, 73 Series, 84 Series and 87 Series blown-glass lighting
- 16, 19, 21, 31, 44, 76, 93, 100, 118 and 141 series

Today
Bocci is a collective of designers, glassblowers, chemists, engineers and architects. Every object is developed, engineered and fabricated in-house in its Vancouver factory, and because each product is hand-crafted, no two are exactly alike. Bocci operates spaces for creative exchange in Vancouver, Milan and Berlin and sells online through bocci.com and through dealers.
