SAS Royal Hotel is one of the most famous Danish modern architectures designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1960.

It defined Scandinavian luxury to the world while classic luxury style was popular at that moment.There were also famous furniture originally designed for this hotel by Arne Jacobsen, such as “Swan Chair”, “Egg Chair” and “Drop Chair”, which people still love now days.

Space Copenhagen worked on the refurbishment of this hotel in 2018.

While Space Copenhagen respects the original designs, they have re-imagined the modern Scandinavian classics – re-upholstering the original chairs and adding the Space Copenhagen designed original furniture, which shows modern Scandinavian designs.

Keeping the organic shapes, which was originated by Arne Jacorbsen in this space, Space Copenhagen added the modern materials like stone, brasses, and velvet fabrics with mix of dark toned woods or walnut.

All the elements are carefully placed in the space with a perfect balance and density for the purpose of this space, which is luxury business use. Vertical lines are also iconic in this interior – semi-open dividers on the hotel lobby to keep the guest privacy, pleats on the velvet sailing height drapes behind the front desks, louvers on the bar counters or guest room walls.

Rooms have more wooden decorations for guests to feel home and relax there after having the business at public spaces or before/after long frights.

Wall mirrors provides space feeling for guest in the center of Copenhagen while white painted wall and sailing shows Danish minimalism with a iconic pendant light SC7 from &Traditon designed by Space Copenhagen.
