Essential geometry
Michael Anastassiades reduces Spot Stool to a circular seat and base joined by two parallel legs. Herman Miller pairs wood with a metal post; the two taller sizes add a crossbar footrest.
Three heights
The official sheet calls the 457 mm version occasional height, while the official store lists that same 18 in format as Dining Height. The representative stool is 349 mm in diameter and 457 mm high and has no footrest; counter and bar versions measure 610 and 762 mm high.
Finish range
The official price book lists White Ash, Ebony on Ash, and Walnut wood choices with Satin Chrome, Black, or Brass metal finishes.
Histoire
A deconstructed cylinder
Spot begins with a cylindrical outline and removes everything not needed for sitting. The two upright elements make the contrast between wood and metal visible, while the round base repeats the seat above it.
Michael Anastassiades and material honesty
Herman Miller credits Michael Anastassiades and connects the stool to his pursuit of honest materials. The product sheet gives 2016 as the original production date; it is recorded here as production history rather than assumed to be a separate design year.
