Overview
Semiton is a modular storage system designed by García Cumini in 2023. Arper describes a piece that is finished on every side, can stand away from a wall and can be expanded as requirements change.
Construction
A powder-coated aluminium structure accepts either two or three units. Storage modules come in 30 cm or 60 cm heights as shelves, open compartments or units with doors; rectangular and round-ended top modules extend the system. Lacquered MDF and wood veneer are among the stated finish routes.
Function
Units can face either direction and be used from both sides. Cable management is integrated into the base and container modules, while complete disassembly supports repair, reuse and material recycling.
Geschichte
Notes on a structure
García Cumini compares the modules to notes following one another on a musical score. Different formats and finishes become the instruments, making each composition adaptable without changing the underlying line.
Space without a fixed back
Arper presents Semiton as both an organising perimeter and a central object. Its two-sided construction lets the system define an area while keeping storage, display surfaces and wiring available from changing orientations.
