Storia
A wooden chair that turns
Rival was Artek's first chair with a swivel function. The company describes the design as a fresh approach to the wooden chair, combining visibly joined birch elements with task-chair movement.

First collaboration
Artek's brochure identifies Rival as its first collaboration with Konstantin Grcic. The designer explained the name as an expression of confidence beside the history of Artek and Alvar Aalto, rather than competition.
