Ricordi

Overview

Ricordi is a 2020 bed by Spalvieri & Del Ciotto. Zanotta frames its design around a simple structure and carefully resolved details, with a divided upholstered headboard held between upright timber elements.

Construction

The headboard frame is offered in natural oak or black open-pore painted oak. Polyurethane and heat-bound polyester fibre form the upholstery, while matt-black painted steel is used for the front feet and the headboard's upper rod.

Specifications

The fabric or leather cover is removable. Beneath the mattress, a steel base supports naturally varnished bent-beech strips. For the chosen 170 x 200 cm mattress, the published table lists 183 x 215 cm. The largest vertical value shown in the drawing is 103 cm, but its axis is not labelled.

Memories translated into a bed

Zanotta connects Ricordi with domestic memories: bed linen drying in sunlight and the restrained furnishing of a grandparents' bedroom. The name sets that recollection against a contemporary structure rather than reproducing a historical style.

Made to accompany daily life

The manufacturer's text describes the project as a search for empathy and confidence between an object and its user. Its timber uprights, horizontal metal rod and padded headboard are presented as details intended to endure and to remain part of everyday life over time.
