Overview
Movie is a compact multifunctional chair designed by Mario Marenco in 1984 for community and public settings. Poltrona Frau specifically identifies conference rooms and interiors that require repeated rows of seating.
Construction
The support is tubular steel, while injected plastic forms the seat and backrest structures. Steel sheet supports the armrests, and polyurethane foam pads the seat, back and arms. Pelle Frau® ColorSphere® leather covers the chair; its clean-cut edges are finished and dyed by hand.
Specifications
Model 5182001 measures 590 × 590 × 810 mm overall. A removable polycarbonate writing tablet uses a bayonet fitting. Chairs without that tablet can be stacked, with the official sheet setting a maximum of eight.
Geschichte
A chair informed by cinema seating
Poltrona Frau says Mario Marenco took the cinema seat as his point of departure for Movie. The brief joined an intimate, welcoming quality associated with the home to the practical requirements of places used by a community.
Repetition and adaptation
The chair can stand alone or form repeated seating rows. Its optional steel hook system joins adjacent chairs, while the detachable writing surface adds a work function without changing the underlying seat. Stackability applies to the version without the writing tablet.
