Mollis

Swivel stool

Mollis is Vincent Van Duysen's compact stool for residential and hospitality settings. Molteni&C describes a circular, lightly contoured seat with a small cut-out, a curved backrest and a swivel mechanism that returns the seat to its starting position.

Construction

The frame and base are stained solid wood. A painted-steel underseat structure carries the 360-degree swivel-and-return mechanism, while the footrest is painted aluminium. The seat and back use a Polimex internal structure with variable-density polyurethane foam and bonded cotton-polyester fibre velveteen. A shaped polyurethane insert with polyester fibre forms the seat cushion.

MSG1 dimensions

MSG1 has a 48 × 52 cm footprint. The tallest printed vertical figure is 104 cm, without an axis name on the drawing.

Balanced movement

Molteni&C frames Mollis around comfort, stability and movement. Van Duysen combines a stable wooden base with a seat that rotates freely and then returns, keeping the stool's orientation consistent after use.

Defined supports

The curved back gives light support without making the profile bulky, and the metal footrest introduces a precise functional line against the wooden frame. Molteni&C presents those details as part of a stool intended for repeated everyday use.
