Wire shell outdoors
The Eames Wire Chair Outdoor adapts Charles and Ray Eames's single-shell exploration to exterior use. Its seat and back are formed from bent and welded wire, producing an open structure that Herman Miller describes as sturdy and lightweight.
Outdoor finish
The current version is made from powder-coated steel and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings. Herman Miller offers black and white finishes, with the wire shell set on a four-leg wire base.
Storia
Continued shell experiments
Charles and Ray Eames tested bent and welded wire during the 1950s as another way to realise their single-shell chair idea. Herman Miller describes the outdoor chair as a direct continuation of that experimental process.
An open structure
The welded grid defines the seat and back without a solid surface. Powder coating prepares the steel form for exterior use while retaining the lightweight, visually open character identified by the manufacturer.
