스토리
합판에서 파이버글라스로
디자인 스토리 섹션에 따르면, 가볍고 일체형인 체어 셸에 대한 아이디어는 1939년으로 거슬러 올라갑니다. 당시 찰스 임스와 에로 사리넨은 크랜브룩 아카데미에서 합판 셸을 실험했습니다.
두 번째로 선정된 스틸 셸
1948년 찰스는 뉴욕 현대미술관(MoMA)의 저가 가구 공모전에 스탬핑 스틸 셸 체어를 출품하여 2위를 차지했습니다. 이후 임스 부부는 보트 제작자가 만든 파이버글라스 프로토타입으로 방향을 전환했습니다.
