High-back C5C
Patricia Urquiola's Crinoline is a 2008 outdoor seating series. The C5C armchair has a wide hollow base, a tall curved back and a floral interlacing motif; the seat is completed by an outdoor-fabric cushion.
Outdoor structure
The seat and back frame are aluminium with polyester powder paint. B&B Italia specifies polyethylene fibre or abaca for the interlacing, shaped polyurethane beneath a water-repellent polyester-fibre cover, and a coated PES protective cover.
C5C dimensions
The high-back drawing labels 102 × 80 × 156 cm, with a 59 cm arm height and 49 cm seat height.
故事
A name drawn from dress history
Crinoline takes its name from nineteenth-century skirts. B&B Italia connects that reference to the series' enclosing outlines, broad bases and curved backs rather than presenting it as a literal reproduction.
Interlacing as ornament
The high-back armchair makes the woven structure prominent through a floral motif. The same series also includes lower small armchairs, chairs and stools, while the recorded C5C variant is the tall form shown in the main image.
