Signed chair
Carabo model 5020 is a signed original designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1989. Zanotta specifies a plywood seat veneered in polished pearwood and a plywood back veneered in ash.
Lacquer and cushion
The back's ash veneer receives an open-pore lacquer in the three manufacturer-named colours. Its cushion is covered in fabric in the corresponding shade. The sheet prints 42, 51, 85 and 47 cm around the views; none of those values is labelled with an axis name.
Storia
Sottsass in 1989
Zanotta's current page, product sheet and Edizioni catalogue consistently credit Ettore Sottsass and date Carabo to 1989. The chair is presented as a signed original rather than a numbered series.
Two veneers and coordinated upholstery
The specification separates the seat and back constructions: polished pearwood veneer for the seat and open-pore lacquered ash veneer for the back. The cushion fabric follows the back's stated shade.
