Numbered edition
Calamobio model 7820 is a chest of drawers designed by Alessandro Mendini across 1985–88. Zanotta states that nine examples are numbered and signed. The frame and feet are wood, the exterior carries polychrome inlay, and the handles are red anodised aluminium.
Interior and drawing
Natural beech lines the drawer interiors. Each series uses a different sequence for the wooden inlays on the cabinet's right side. The official drawing prints 112, 44 and 82 cm; it does not label the axes.
Geschichte
Mendini's 1985–88 design
Zanotta and its Edizioni catalogue both date Calamobio to 1985–88 and credit Alessandro Mendini. The specification assigns model number 7820 to the chest.
Variation within nine examples
The work is issued in nine numbered and signed examples. Zanotta distinguishes the series through changing sequences of wooden inlay on the right side, while retaining the stated wood frame, natural-beech drawer interiors and anodised handles.
