Hintergrund
Patricia Urquiola wurde 1961 in Oviedo, Spanien, geboren. Sie studierte Architektur an der Universidad Politécnica de Madrid und schloss ihr Studium am Politecnico di Milano ab, das sie 1989 unter der Betreuung von Achille Castiglioni abschloss. Sie arbeitete mit Vico Magistretti zusammen und war Head of Design bei Lissoni Associati, bevor sie 2001 ihr eigenes Studio in Mailand gründete.
Markanter Stil
Ihre Arbeiten verbinden industrielles Produktdesign mit Architektur, Art Direction und Strategie. Sie sind haptisch, farbenfroh und großzügig und interpretieren handwerkliche Techniken – Steppen, Weben, Capitonné – häufig mit industriellen Materialien neu, bei starkem Fokus auf Nachhaltigkeit.
