Hintergrund
Jasper Morrison (geboren 1959 in London) ist ein englischer Produkt- und Möbeldesigner. Er studierte am Kingston Polytechnic (Abschluss 1982), erwarb 1985 einen Master in Design am Royal College of Art und studierte zudem an der Universität der Künste Berlin. Eine Begegnung in seiner Kindheit mit dem Radiogerät Braun SK 4 trug dazu bei, ihn zum Design zu führen.
Markanter Stil
Morrison ist für die Verfeinerung und scheinbare Schlichtheit seiner Arbeiten bekannt – "Objekte sollten niemals schreien." Gemeinsam mit Naoto Fukasawa kuratierte er 2006 die Ausstellung Super Normal, die gewöhnliche, gut gemachte Dinge ohne Schnickschnack feiert.

Alice Rawsthorn bezeichnete ihn als "einen der einflussreichsten Produktdesigner unserer Zeit". Er erhielt 2020 den Compasso d'Oro Career Award und wurde im selben Jahr zum CBE ernannt; seine Arbeiten befinden sich im MoMA, im V&A und im Design Museum.
