Iskos-Berlin Design è una partnership con sede a Copenaghen tra Boris Berlin e Aleksej Iskos, attiva nel design industriale, dell'arredamento e grafico. Lo studio è stato fondato alla fine del 2010, dopo 23 anni di attività con Komplot Design. Boris Berlin (nato nel 1953 a San Pietroburgo) ha co-fondato Komplot Design nel 1987; Aleksej Iskos (nato nel 1965 a Kharkiv) si è diplomato alla Designskole danese nel 1996 e ha lavorato presso Komplot dal 1999 al 2010.
Stile distintivo
Il duo concepisce il design come un'arte del racconto, costruita su semantica, morfologia, materialità e tecnologia. Puntano a storie chiare, sorprendenti e capaci di strappare un sorriso, e sperimentano nuove tecnologie e materiali, lasciando che siano i materiali stessi a parlare.
Opere principali
Per Muuto hanno progettato la famiglia Fiber Chair (2014), una sedia a guscio realizzata in un composito di fibre plastiche e di legno. Tra le loro creazioni figurano anche la sedia 5-Waves, Knit-Wit, la sedia JUST, la serie di divani Godot e The Danish Chair.
Eredità
Le opere di Iskos-Berlin e Komplot sono conservate in musei del design, tra cui il MoMA e il Designmuseum Danmark, e il duo collabora con produttori di primo piano in tutto il mondo.
