Collection Story
Origin
The Embrace Series is the line that the Austrian design trio EOOS developed for Carl Hansen & Søn. EOOS's own site dates the Embrace Armchair (E005) to 2015, and Carl Hansen & Søn says the studio has represented the contemporary side of its collection since 2015. The E015 Embrace Lounge Chair followed in 2016.
2019 expansion
In 2019 the maker extended the series with a round dining table (E020), a lounge table (E021) and an armless dining chair (E004), all in stores from September 2019. The company says the series suits offices, restaurants and private homes alike.
Design Language
The maker describes the series as intelligent and strong, with an almost floating expression. Upholstered pieces set a soft cushion against a light solid wood frame, and the tables lift a round wooden top above a steel structure that EOOS links to a kite in the sky. The partnership joins the studio's modern outlook with Carl Hansen & Søn's craftsmanship and heritage.
