BAR Studio worked on the renovation of the Grand Hyatt HongKong in 2016, which is one of the oldest luxury hotel in HongKong.The hotel has been opened since 1989. It has the 545 rooms, 10 restaurants and bars, and 21 event venues – it’s the largest luxury hotel in HongKong.

BAR Studio re-designed the new guest rooms, suites, corridors, Teppanroom, Grand Cafe, Grand Club, and Grand Suites.

One of the BAR Studio’s expertise – Asian classic modern luxury style is best matching the purpose of the hotel, and it’s beautifully showing the elegance of the oldest luxury hotel and its history and tradition with HongKong. The design is appealing to both regular guests who loves Grand Hyatt HongKong and also new guests in younger generations who start experiencing the HongKong luxury life.

As part of a major renovation of the hotel, BAR Studio designed Grand Hyatt Hong Kong’s new guest rooms, suites and corridors, Teppanroom (concealed within the hotel’s Japanese restaurant Kaetsu), Grand Café, Grand Club and Grand Suites. The new interiors blend the traditional and modern, Eastern and Western in an elegant residential style. Wherever possible the new spaces maximise the celebrated views of Hong Kong.

The new guestrooms feel spacious and light-filled, contrasting with the richly hued guest-floor corridors. The Teppanroom offers a sophisticated and discreet private-dining experience, with a rich and moody interior, vibrant attitude, and wide-ranging stylistic influences layered over a Japanese base. Grand Café has been a Grand Hyatt Hong Kong institution since the hotel opened in 1989 but after more than 20 years in operation, it was time to return the hotel’s F&B mainstay to the forefront of restaurant design by re-interpreting Grand Café for a new era without losing touch with its context and history: display kitchens bring the theatre of the kitchen into the restaurant and create a series of spaces, each with their own identity, interest and strength, that work together to form a dynamic café-restaurant environment. The new Grand Club has a diversity of furniture settings that suggest a sophisticated loft-space, including an intimate living room with communal table, private meeting rooms, a lounge space with an eclectic mix of comfortable seating, a library and an inviting kitchen for guest use. The Club also anchors the diverse and stylish collection of interiors comprising the renovated Grand Suites; inspired by fictional travellers whose journeys might have brought them through the hotel’s doors, the suites form a set of exclusive, individual and residence-like spaces within the hotel.
