– BASIC DATA –

Project Name Moxy NYC Times Square
Year of Project 2017
Project Type Hotel Design
Country United States
Design Style Contemporary, Cultual, Modern

– DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT –

Moxy NYC Times Square is a new flagship of Moxy brand by Marriott.
This hotel design might be one of the new standard of future city hotels – rooms are mostly relatively small (18-24m2) yet it’s design oriented and functional, like the hanging foldable table&chairs or the vanity inside living bed area. The quality of bedding is in one of the highest standard as per Marriott – world largest hotel group. The entrance lobby and check-in area is also compact, instead, the lounge area is spacious, and the hotel has 5 restaurants&bars. The room rate is compatible in this center of the NYC.

The concept is very practical based on the recent city travelers tendency – they requires nice public area to socialize, and the design of the room or quality of bedding must be in high standard, but they do not focus on the room size or even twin/bunk beds can be acceptable, as most of the time they are not in the room.

Yabu Pushelberg designed this hotel room in clean look yet with playful elements with selecting the quality materials – white washed wood as a base material, custom folding furniture with belt leathers, perforated metal storage space under the bed, hanging throw pillows, retro look rotary dial telephone in fun colors, deep blue ceramic vanity stand, two tones shower room tiles with message, or striped room rags.
The room is small yet there are many ways the guests can custom and utilize the space by and for themselves.
The main public space has open feelings with mix of many different furnitures in white wood/stone/bricks wall or flooring. In contrast, the main bar counter has classic American bar feelings with vintage wood wall ceilings or dark tone leathers.

This reminds us “luxury” is not the only best goal the hotels should move toward.
